Cute Cord Pencil Skirt - Make it yourself!

02/11/2016

First of all we would like to apologise for the lack of recent blog posts on our page- with Christmas quickly approaching we have been very busy in the shop recently with new stock arriving, designing new workshops and lots, lots more!

We would love to show you one of our most recent projects: The Cute Cord Pencil Skirt. Our fabulous sewer Jaynie B stitched up this little number using the New Look pattern 6053. We love this simple pattern as it is so adaptable; you can choose from 3 different lengths; mini, midi and maxi and also it can be changed from a pencil design to an A line skirt – which is brilliant as it can be for day, office and also for a night out made in a lovely lace or satin!

Jayne chose the pencil style that finishes a couple of inches above the knee. It sits just under the waist line and is a very comfortable fit. She made the skirt in our Mustard Corduroy Fabric, (fabric of the week!!) and it took her less than a couple of hours to complete! As it has been made in corduroy, the thickness of the fabric means it wasn’t necessary to line the skirt. However, if you were to choose a cotton or linen fabric for the pencil skirt, we would recommend lining it in order to achieve the perfect look. The total cost of the skirt is £21.25, which includes all of the materials: fabric, pattern, cotton and the zip – Not bad for a custom made pencil skirt!

Our Fabric of the Week has 25% off until Wednesday 9th November so, this week,
the total cost is only £18.25!!

If you would like to replicate this simple yet sweet pencil skirt (unlined) then here is what you need:

  • 0.75 Metres our Fabric of the Week  -  £9.00 (normally £12)

  • New Look Pattern no 6053  - £5.95

  • 7” zip- £1.45

  • Gutermann Sew All Thread - £1.75
