Take a Class with Us - What to expect...

10/01/2017

We are now close to our second anniversary and have run many, many workshops and courses over the past two years.  We have listened to your feedback and requests and try to improve and refine things accordingly - we hope you'd agree!   We get so much positive feedback -  It is one of the most rewarding and exciting things we do - it is just so lovely seeing people learn new skills and build their confidence. We often hear people say that they aren't creative or won't be able learn - it is amazing what you can achieve if you just have a go!  Our tutors are the loveliest around!  We are a friendly bunch and very patient too.  Don't be afraid of learning something new - you'll love it!

A quote from Anne who attended a recent workshop  - 'Making a patchwork cushion in Liberty fabric'

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I loved this morning's class. Jane was very encouraging, she really helped me to feel more confident in my sewing. My cushion looks fantastic! I learnt lots, but importantly, that perfection isn't always required for the result to be great! I cannot wait for news of the 2017 courses."

What happens at a Love Stitch class? - Beginners Sewing Machine Skills - 3 hour class - runs every 4-6 weeks

On arrival we like to meet our attendees, find out who's who and, all importantly, take your drinks order - we have Lattes, Americanos, lovely teas and hot chocolate too all served with some home-made cake!

We get together in our cafe area and when everyone has arrived, Jane the tutor will take you up into the studio.  Following the usual housekeeping information, we like to get to know you - you'll hear about Jane's sewing journey and then maybe a quick chat about why you've come and what you would like to achieve from the workshop.  Its all very friendly and chilled.

Everyone has their own sewing machine - we use our lovely 'State of the Art'  Pfaff Ambition Essential sewing machines.  Don't be put off  by this - all machines will basically work in the same way so you will be able to transfer the knowledge you pick up to your own machine, if you already have one.

We start from the very basics in this class - how to turn on, thread the machine and wind the bobbin.  You will be taken through each step and then you'll get going on the stitching!  Questions are always welcome.

You'll learn all about changing the needle, the different feet that come with a machine and what they do  -you may even get to do a buttonhole!

Once we have covered the basics you'll go on to sew your very own first project - a lovely drawstring bag - we're using tartan fabric at the moment for a wintery feel!

We like to keep our class sizes small so you get the very best attention.

At the end of the class we ask for feedback and then you're free to go, taking your lovely bag to show family and friends.

We hope you'll feel delighted and want to carry on with your sewing journey - see you soon!!
